The history of PFEIFER can be traced back to the year 1579, when the Pfeifer family’s ropery in Memmingen was mentioned for the first time. Hermann Pfeifer took over the small rope making business in 1950 at the age of 22. With a wealth of ideas, farsightedness and openness for all things new, Hermann Pfeifer managed to turn the handicraft business into an industrial enterprise. Gerhard Pfeifer is the present manager of the group of companies in the 12th generation of the family. Under his leadership, the company has developed since the 1990s into an internationally operative group of companies with numerous subsidiaries all over the world.
Today, the PFEIFER Group ranks as one of the leading European companies for wire rope, lifting and building systems. The name PFEIFER stands for a premium programme worldwide with the slogan ‘We bring technology into application…’. In Wire Rope Technology, the product range covers crane and elevator ropes, wire ropes for cable structures, mining and industry as well as rockfall protection products. The Connecting and Lifting Systems division produces technical built-in parts for lifting, moving, fixing and connecting precast concrete parts, while commodities and capital goods for lifting and moving loads are developed, manufactured and distributed in the Lifting Technology division.
